History
As we continue to watch the foundation of the black community disintegrate, we ask the question, will God send another black leader with the passion to uplift our people, like Martin, Malcolm, Evers, Dahmer, Kennard, Schwerner, Goodman, Chaney, Parks, Marshall, and the list goes on. These are only a few names of people who dedicated and sacrificed their lives in order to better the African American community.
Mr. Vernon C. Floyd has etched his name into history by displaying the same qualities that these great courageous leaders did during the Civil Rights era. He has triumphed over obstacles by using the tools of persistence and endurance. He has swum a sea of man made traps by using the tools of honesty and integrity, without question; he is getting ready to fly above the clouds. Indeed, he is an humble servant.
If you want to be great, then you must first learn to serve. He is the owner and operator of the first African American radio station that has been the voice for the black community in the Pine Belt area since 1969. His refusal to allow these stations to be purchased by corporate giants makes Vernon C. Floyd without a doubt, a great man. What I am to be, I am now becoming.
